INDEEP

How can innovations in logistics be implemented? The INDEEP-project has provided a tool that maps the innovation playing field and a serious game on innovation with stakeholders. In the game there is a specific case on the stakeholders in truck platooning.

Research

The research focuses on the implementation of innovations in logistics. How can new ideas be put into effect, how can innovation adoption be accelerated? How can these innovations be implemented in the Rotterdam port area? Which tools can be developed to accelerate the innovation processes?

The first part of the research focuses on how the innovation ecosystem can be mapped: which parties are active, which interests are conflicting, or do the parties concur? How can we accelerate innovation by making use of that knowledge? This should provide a tool with which the playing field can be mapped, showing who the stakeholders are, who’s opposed and who the supporters are.

In the second part of the project, a serious game has been developed in which various stakeholders in a specific case (with Truck platooning as an example) can experience how arduous an innovation process can be. The central question in the game is: how do you implement an innovation together?

Opportunities

  • Insight into the playing field, with stakeholders, customers, opposition, and so on.

Challenges

  • Finding good logistics innovation cases.
  • The tool must be usable in all possible cases, but subsequently also be valuable in individual cases.

Impact

Accelerating the adoption of innovations.
